My name really is Joan Foreman- Cooper. It was relief to change it when I married my long time love. . I was born in the north of England, went to a girl’s school run by Anglican Nuns. Those incredible ladies, who refused to wear a habit, taught religion as if it was a real life experience. A lot of girls felt the urge to write about religion as if it were a real life experience. ‘My Beloved Priest’ is my version.
My love and I came to Adelaide in 1973 with our littlest girl. I love this country and have from the first moment I set foot in it. It’s full of great people of whom just a few are our own gorgeous grandchildren.
I have always been a writer but until recently it was non fiction. Newspaper articles, histories, Local Government and so on. My favourite is a history of Birdwood,. It is read mostly by tourists although every now and then I get a note from a resident saying I forgot such and such an event. Happily it still sells well.
